Food is like that friend who never misses a chance to strike a pose, always eager to showcase its lush textures and vibrant colours, much like a supermodel confidently strutting down the runway in a stunning designer outfit. Each dish tells a story, and every meal is an opportunity to appreciate the artistry involved in its creation. Recently, I’ve been diving into the exhilarating world of mindful eating—taking the time to truly savour each bite as if it were the last slice of pizza at a lively party, where everyone is eyeing that final piece with longing. This approach has transformed my relationship with food, allowing me to appreciate not just the flavours, but the entire experience surrounding each meal. So, I figured, why not immortalize this delicious journey and document it for posterity? It would be a delightful way to reflect on my culinary adventures over time. Plus, it gives me the perfect excuse to snap daily food photos, capturing each delectable dish I chow down on with the fervour of a paparazzo at a celebrity wedding, eager to capture every moment of glamour and excitement. It’s a sneak peek into the menu of an everyday Liverpool wedding photographer, showcasing the beauty and diversity of what I consume. Let’s dig in and embark on this flavorful journey together! :D
Day one: Tesco's finest Stonebaked Seeded Multigrain Bloomer. This artisanal bread, with its perfectly baked crust and a medley of seeds adorning its surface, presents a delightful visual feast. The aroma wafts through the air, inviting me to take a closer look and experience its texture. As I slice into the loaf, the soft, airy interior reveals itself, dotted with sunflower, sesame, and poppy seeds that add a delightful crunch. Each bite is a harmonious blend of nutty flavours and wholesome goodness, making it an ideal companion for a variety of toppings. Whether slathered with creamy butter, layered with rich avocado, or topped with a slice of sharp cheese, this multigrain bloomer is not just a staple; it’s a celebration of simple yet profound culinary pleasure. Today, I’ll pair it with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt, allowing the bread’s natural flavours to shine. The experience promises to be nothing short of extraordinary. Let the culinary adventure begin!

Day two: Coffee. I have to admit this is my biggest weakness, my delightful indulgence that I look forward to every single day. There’s something incredibly special about that first sip of coffee in the morning; it feels like a warm embrace that awakens my senses and ignites my spirit. I love coffee in all its forms—whether it's a rich espresso shot, a creamy cappuccino, or a smooth pour-over. The best part of my day is undeniably when my brain and body connect with it, creating a harmonious balance that sets the tone for everything that follows.
Coffee has an almost magical quality to it. The aroma wafting through the air is intoxicating, a fragrant invitation that beckons me to indulge. It’s not just the smell that captivates me; it’s the taste as well, with its complex notes that can range from nutty to chocolaty, fruity to floral. Each cup offers a unique experience, a little journey that I savour with each sip. The energy that coffee provides is unlike any other stimulant, transforming my lethargy into productivity, and my foggy thoughts into clarity. I can’t imagine photographing or doing any work without it; it fuels my creativity and sharpens my focus, making even the most mundane tasks feel exhilarating.
This daily ritual is my holy grail, the pinnacle of my day, a celebration that I cannot imagine being without. It’s more than just a beverage; it’s a moment of joy and anticipation that punctuates my routine. As I cradle my cup, I often reflect on how coffee has woven itself into the fabric of my life, enhancing not just my productivity, but also my moments of relaxation and connection with others. Whether I’m enjoying it alone in the quiet of my home or sharing a pot with friends at a bustling café, coffee brings people together and fosters conversations that linger long after the last drop has been savoured.
And you, do you like coffee? What is your favourite way to enjoy it? Do you have a particular blend or brewing method that you cherish? I’d love to hear about your own coffee experiences and how they compare to mine.

Day three: Eggstravaganza! Eggs have magically taken over my breakfast and lunch like a wizard casting delicious spells. I had ditched them for a while, thinking oats were the knight in shining armour of health, but boy, was I scrambled in my thinking! After years of munching on cereals and oats, I cracked open the joy of eggs again. They're the egg-cellent way to kickstart the day. There are so many egg-citing ways to enjoy them. I'll crack open one of my favourite recipes soon, but for now, here's my simplest go-to: eggs with baked beans. Yum. Egg-straordinary food, and not just for photographers! :D

Day four: smoothie. This particular smoothie is something I love to bits, and it has become a staple in my daily routine. The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and the delightful burst of flavours it offers. It is straightforward to prepare, which makes it an ideal choice for busy mornings or a refreshing afternoon snack. Not only is it easy to whip up, but it is also packed with a plethora of good stuff that nourishes the body and delights the taste buds.
To create my smoothie base, I usually start by mixing fresh apples and ripe bananas. The apples provide a crisp, slightly tart flavor, while the bananas contribute a creamy texture and natural sweetness that balances the overall taste beautifully. These two fruits are not only delicious but also rich in essential vitamins and minerals, making them a perfect foundation for my smoothie.
Next, I add a generous glass of milk or a scoop of yogurt, depending on what I have on hand or what I am in the mood for that day. The milk adds a smooth consistency and a dose of calcium, while yogurt introduces probiotics that are beneficial for gut health. Both options enhance the creaminess of the smoothie, making it even more enjoyable to sip on.
After establishing the base with apples, bananas, and either milk or yogurt, I let my creativity take the lead. The rest of the ingredients can vary widely based on what I feel like at the moment. Sometimes, I toss in a handful of spinach or kale for an extra boost of greens, which is a fantastic way to incorporate more nutrients without sacrificing flavor. Other times, I might add a spoonful of peanut butter or almond butter for a nutty richness or a sprinkle of chia seeds for added fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
I also enjoy experimenting with different fruits, such as berries, mangoes, or even a bit of pineapple, to bring in additional layers of flavour and a vibrant color to the smoothie. Each variation offers a unique taste experience, and it’s always exciting to discover new combinations that work well together.
Ultimately, this smoothie is a perfect representation of simplicity at its best. It allows me to enjoy a delicious, nutritious drink that can be tailored to my preferences each day. Whether I’m looking for a quick breakfast, a post-workout refuel, or just a tasty treat, this smoothie consistently meets my needs while bringing a smile to my face.

Day five: cottage cheese. For breakfast, I indulged in a delightful bowl of cottage cheese topped with a generous drizzle of honey, accompanied by a sprinkle of grain-free granola. This combination is not just a feast for the palate; it is also a visual masterpiece that any photographer would be eager to capture. The creamy texture of the cottage cheese contrasts beautifully with the glossy sheen of the honey, which cascades down the sides, creating an inviting and appetizing appearance. The granola, with its crunchy texture and earthy tones, adds a layer of visual interest, making the dish not only nutritious but also a work of art.
This breakfast is truly amazing, providing me with sustained energy that lasts for many hours throughout my busy day. The protein-rich cottage cheese fuels my body, while the natural sweetness of the honey satisfies my cravings. The grain-free granola, packed with nuts and seeds, not only enhances the flavour but also contributes a satisfying crunch that complements the creaminess of the cottage cheese.
As a photographer, I appreciate that this meal nourishes my body and inspires my creativity. The vibrant colors and textures create a stunning visual that I can’t help but want to photograph. Each element of the dish plays a role in creating an image that is as appealing to the eyes as it is to the taste buds. This breakfast is more than just a meal; it is an experience that energises me for the day ahead, allowing me to explore, capture, and create with enthusiasm. Yummy :D

Day six: sirloin steak. What can I say - I love it! The rich, robust flavor of a perfectly cooked sirloin steak is something that truly captivates my taste buds. The sirloin cut, known for its balance of tenderness and flavor, offers a delightful experience with each bite. The marbling in the meat contributes to its juiciness, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the dish. As I prepare to cook the steak, I take a moment to appreciate the process. Selecting a high-quality sirloin from the butcher is essential, as the quality of the meat significantly influences the final outcome. I often opt for a cut that has a bright red color and a good amount of marbling, indicating that it will be flavorful and succulent. Once I have my sirloin steak ready, I season it simply with salt and freshly cracked black pepper, allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. I heat a cast-iron skillet to a high temperature, ensuring that I achieve a perfect sear that locks in the juices. The sound of the steak sizzling as it hits the pan is music to my ears, and I can already envision the mouthwatering result. Cooking it to medium-rare, I aim for that ideal internal temperature that will yield a tender, juicy steak. The aroma that fills the kitchen is intoxicating, a combination of savory meat and the heat of the skillet working its magic. After allowing the steak to rest for a few minutes, I slice into it, revealing a beautifully pink center that promises a burst of flavor. To complement the sirloin, I often prepare a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad, creating a well-rounded meal that satisfies both the palate and the appetite. The combination of the hearty steak with the lightness of the vegetables creates a perfect balance on the plate, making each meal a celebration of flavors. In conclusion, day six is not just about enjoying sirloin steak; it’s about indulging in a culinary experience that brings joy and satisfaction. Whether grilled, pan-seared, or cooked on an open flame, sirloin steak remains a favourite for its incredible taste and versatility, making it a highlight in my week-long culinary journey.

Day seven: Spicy & Sweet Butternut Squash Soup. This delightful dish combines the natural sweetness of roasted butternut squash with a harmonious blend of spices, creating a rich and comforting flavor profile that is perfect for any occasion. The soup is served with a generous swirl of cream, which adds luxurious creaminess and balances the spice, making each spoonful a delightful experience. A sprinkle of fresh parsley on top not only enhances the dish's visual appeal with its vibrant green color but also adds a fresh, herby note that complements the warmth of the soup.
This hearty soup is not just a meal but an experience that warms the soul and nourishes the body. The preparation involves roasting the butternut squash until it becomes tender and caramelized, which intensifies its natural sweetness. The addition of spices, such as cumin or a hint of cayenne, provides a gentle kick that elevates the flavors to a new level, making it both spicy and sweet—a perfect balance that excites the palate.
This dish serves as an excellent fill-in or accompaniment for any photographer, especially during long shoots or creative sessions. The warmth and comfort of a bowl of spicy and sweet butternut squash soup can rejuvenate and energize, providing the necessary sustenance to keep the creative juices flowing. It’s a perfect way to take a break, refuel, and engage in a moment of culinary delight, allowing photographers to focus on their craft with renewed vigor.
Whether enjoyed on a chilly day or as a delightful starter for a dinner party, this soup is sure to impress both the taste buds and the eyes. Its vibrant color and rich texture make it a visually appealing dish that photographs beautifully, making it an ideal subject for any food photographer looking to capture the essence of comfort food. So, gather your ingredients, prepare to blend the sweet and spicy flavors, and indulge in a bowl of this delicious butternut squash soup that is sure to warm your heart and inspire your creativity!

Day eight: apples. As the saying goes, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." This age-old adage highlights the numerous health benefits that this remarkable fruit offers. Apples, with their crisp texture and sweet, tangy flavor, are not just a delicious snack; they are a powerhouse of nutrition packed into a convenient, portable form.
Rich in dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber known as pectin, apples can aid in digestion and promote a healthy gut. This fiber content also helps to regulate blood sugar levels, making apples a smart choice for those monitoring their glucose intake. Additionally, the antioxidants found in apples, such as quercetin and flavonoids, contribute to a lower risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and certain types of cancer.
From a culinary perspective, apples are incredibly versatile. They can be enjoyed raw, sliced and paired with nut butter for a satisfying snack, or baked into a warm pie that evokes memories of family gatherings. Their ability to blend seamlessly into sweet and savoury dishes makes them a staple in kitchens worldwide. Whether in salads, sauces, or simply eaten fresh, apples add a delightful crunch and a burst of flavor.
Moreover, the variety of apples available—from tart Granny Smiths to sweet Fuji apples—means there is an apple to suit every palate. Each variety has its unique taste profile and texture, providing endless possibilities for experimentation in recipes or as a standalone snack.
In conclusion, the apple is not just a fruit; it is an embodiment of health and culinary delight. Incorporating apples into your daily diet can lead to improved overall well-being, making them arguably one of the best snacks on earth. So, on this eighth day, let's celebrate the apple, a simple yet extraordinary fruit that continues to earn its reputation as a nutritional powerhouse.

Day nine: raw kimchi and herring. Today marks an exciting culinary adventure as I delve into the vibrant flavors of raw kimchi, a staple in Korean cuisine known for its bold taste and health benefits. This fermented dish, made from seasoned vegetables, primarily napa cabbage and Korean radishes, is rich in probiotics and is celebrated for its ability to enhance digestion and boost the immune system. The preparation involves a meticulous process of salting the cabbage to draw out moisture, followed by a generous coating of a spicy mixture that typically includes gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes), garlic, ginger, and fish sauce, allowing the ingredients to meld together beautifully. In addition to the kimchi, I will also be savoring herring, a fish that has been a dietary staple in many cultures for centuries. Known for its rich omega-3 fatty acids, herring is not only nutritious but also offers a unique flavor profile that can vary depending on how it is prepared. Whether served raw, pickled, or smoked, herring provides a delightful contrast to the spicy and tangy notes of kimchi. The combination of these two dishes on this day creates a harmonious balance of flavors and textures, showcasing the beauty of fermented foods and their role in traditional diets around the world. As I prepare to enjoy this meal, I am reminded of the intricate relationship between food, culture, and health, making this day not just about nourishment, but also about experiencing the rich tapestry of culinary traditions.

Day Ten: Spaghetti. On this delightful tenth day of our culinary journey, we are treated to a classic dish that never fails to satisfy: spaghetti. This beloved Italian staple is renowned for its versatility and comforting qualities, making it a favorite in households around the world.
To elevate our spaghetti experience, we are pairing it with a unique twist: fried turkey. The turkey is expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, resulting in a crispy exterior that contrasts beautifully with the tender, juicy meat inside. This protein not only adds a hearty element to the dish but also infuses it with a savoury flavour that complements the spaghetti wonderfully.
Accompanying our spaghetti and fried turkey are fresh vegetables that enhance both the nutritional value and the visual appeal of the meal. Chopped onions add a sweet and slightly tangy flavour, while carrots contribute a subtle crunch and a hint of earthiness. These vegetables are sautéed until they are just tender, allowing their natural sweetness to shine through, and they are generously mixed into the spaghetti, creating a harmonious blend of flavours and textures.
To finish off this delightful dish, we sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top. The cheese melts into the warm spaghetti, adding a creamy richness that ties all the elements together beautifully. The sharpness of the cheddar provides a pleasing contrast to the mild flavours of the turkey and vegetables, enhancing the overall taste experience.
Finally, we add a touch of green to our dish, perhaps in the form of freshly chopped parsley or green onions. This not only adds a pop of color but also introduces a fresh, vibrant flavor that brightens the entire plate. The combination of the rich spaghetti, savoury fried turkey, sweet vegetables, and sharp cheddar creates a mouthwatering dish that is both satisfying and delightful to the senses.
Day Ten's spaghetti is more than just a simple meal; it is a celebration of flavours and textures that come together to create a memorable dining experience. Each bite is a reminder of the joy that can be found in a well-prepared dish, making this day a highlight in our culinary adventure.
